PETER B. JONES
Onondaga Beaver Clan
Jones began working the clay at age of seven, encouraged by both his parents. At the age of fourteen, he enrolled at the then-fledgling Institute of American Indian Arts, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His sensitive rendering has earned his clan animal pottery immense popularity. Jones’ sculpture has earned him commissions including two monumental bronzes in Akron, Ohio. His work has been exhibited widely and is in the collections of the Iroquois Museum, Heard Museum, MFA in Boston, Everson Museum, Museums of Anthropology in Berlin and Frankfurt. Jones is a 2018 recipient of a First People’s Fund Community Spirit Award.
